Telecine is the process of transferring motion picture film into video. This app is used to record projected film such as 8mm, Super 8, 16mm... or any other projected film to you iPhone or iPad. Simply project your film onto a screen and record it using your devices camera. All controls need to adjust for flicker, exposure, white balance, focus, and audio are right there adjustable at your fingertips while recording. Instead of buried in the settings as with other apps.
Ive personally used the app to convert all of my familys old 8mm/Super 8 home movies. This app has been specially designed to give you the controls to digitally capture the film correctly. Some of the features include:
- Variable Frame Rate: Old movies were capture at different frame rates. And projectors play the movies at different frame rates. This app allows you to adjust the frame rate easily from the record screen on the fly to reduce and eliminate the flicker cause by mismatched frame rates.
- Audio Mute: For older home movies where there was no sound, there is a mute button accessible right from the recording screen.
- Auto Focus Toggle: Your most likely capturing the film from a tripod. You will therefore want to lock any autofucusing that the device performs. (if the camera supports auto focus)
- Auto White Balance Toggle: Lock the white balance or let the device set the white balance for you.
- Auto Exposure Toggle: The Auto Exposure on the camera allows you to seamlessly capture dark reels and light reels.
- Resolutions: Change the capture resolution (which effects the frame rates available). Record your old movies in 1080p (on cameras that support 1080p)
- Clean UI Design specifically optimized for iOS 7.
